These same exact agency growth secrets have been used repeatedly by hundreds of agency owners to grow their own agencies to 6 and 7 figures.

He’ll also spin the tale of how he got to dead broke, after watching his original agency collapse around him. Then he’ll show you how to avoid falling into the same traps he did.

A Pioneer on the Trail You’re Currently Following

Zach has seen it all.

He has built his agency to 7-figures, twice, and watched it crash to the ground (fortunately only once) when he didn’t follow his own advice or listen to the people around him.

He has seen other agency owners make the same, or similar mistakes to the ones he’s made, over and over and over.

Then he’s helped them correct these problems and grow their agencies beyond their wildest dreams!

He gets it. Because he’s been there.

And he’s gotten out of “there.”

He’s found the agency growth secrets that work to push your agency from struggling and barely making ends meet to happy, thriving, and making money hand over fist.

Zach is going to tell you all about this journey at Digital Agency Expo. He’s got a great presentation lined up to give you all the details on the simple changes you can make that will turn your agency around.

He’s given me a sneak preview of his presentation and allowed me to share 3 of these amazing agency growth secrets with you.

shocked by agency growth secrets

Agency Growth Secret #1: You Don’t Need More Clients, You Need the “Right” Clients

So many agencies take any client that comes their way, regardless of their product or service, how much they spend on ads or the ROI they’re expecting from their campaigns.

You don’t want to take just any client.

Taking on every client that comes your way can result in being overburdened with demanding clients who have no respect for your time, your talents or the work you do for them.

They’ll call you at all hours of the day and night. They’ll second guess your decisions and demand that you make changes you know are bad for their campaigns.

Worst of all, they won’t pay you what you’re worth.

Not only are you stuck with what feels like a “job,” every single client is your “boss” and they’re all driving you crazy!

Zach found himself in this exact situation at one point.

Too many clients, not enough control over the projects, and definitely not enough money to make any of it worth his time.

It was utter chaos.

In fact, at one point, it sent him to the hospital.

Seriously.

Don’t do this.

If you want to learn more about how Zach ended up in the hospital with stress-induced Bell’s Palsy, check out this blog post.

And really, don’t do this! It’s bad for your agency and bad for your personal health.

Instead, go after the “right” clients.

Yes, I know that’s incredibly vague. Allow me to clarify.

The “right” clients are the ones that can see you know what you’re doing.

They recognize that you’re in a position to help them improve their ROI, make more money and scale their sales.

They’re willing to pay you to do all this, because they see you as the expert.

This means they’ll go with the recommendations you make and they’ll give you the help and assets you need to run their campaigns.

They’ll look forward to weekly reports on how their campaigns are performing, instead of calling you at all hours of the day and night, demanding information.

And they’ll appreciate the hard work you’re doing for them to grow their businesses.

All while you’re growing your agency and making more money for yourself.

run a profitable agency

Agency Growth Secret #2: Invest In Your Agency and Acquiring New Clients

Zach has this conversation with agency owners on a regular basis:

Agency Owner: “I want to get clients who will pay me $5,000 a month to run their ad campaigns.”

Zach: Great, how much are you willing to invest to promote your agency services?

AO: $500 or less.

Really?

This is the equivalent of a client coming to you and demanding that you get them 1000% return on ad spend (ROAS) for their campaign.

You can’t guarantee that, nor would you.

If you don’t put money into client acquisition, you’re not going to get quality clients. Plain and simple.

Yes, it costs money to get the high-ticket clients you want to attract. There is no way around this.

If you’re willing to separate the wheat from the chaff, you’ll get quality clients. If you stick with whatever comes in, you’ll get what you get and suffer the consequences.

If you want the high-paying clients, you must invest in your agency’s marketing efforts. These people don’t just show up magically when you put an ad or a blog post out there. You have to target them and put the time, money, and effort into attracting them to your agency.

Let’s say you run an ad campaign to a Facebook Messenger funnel and you get 1,500 people to click on your ad for $3 a pop.

That’s not bad.

Then, let’s say they go through your Messenger funnel that persuades 500 of them to opt in for a Facebook ads audit that costs you $6.70 per Messenger reply.

Still not too bad, though more expensive.

Now. Let’s say you conduct a Facebook ads audit for 30 of those new leads.

That’s $166 per consult.

Let's say 1 out of the 30 potential clients signs a retainer contract with your agency.

That one client cost you $4,500 to acquire.

Before you freak out, yes, that sounds expensive.

But when you consider that you’re talking about a retainer contract for a minimum of $2,500 every month, for a minimum of 3 months, probably more like a year, that’s nothing.

Think about it.

You’re paying $4,500 to get a client who will be worth at least $7,500, if not far more.

Let's say this client works with you for a full year. That single client's lifetime value is $30,000.

This means, if you have a yearly ad spend budget of $54,000 and you get an average of one client per month, you'll be making $360,00 in client revenue.

That’s a 650% return on ad spend (ROAS)!

For every dollar you put into promoting your own business, you're getting $6.50 back out.

Agency Growth Secrets Ad Spend Plan

What’s not to love?

This may be the most important agency growth secret revealed in this blog post, and in Zach’s presentation.

You must invest on the front end to gain these advantages on the back end.

Otherwise, you’ll attract the cheap clients who want far more than you’ve promised for the amount they’re paying you. Your agency will feel like a huge burden instead of the freedom and wealth you were promised.

The truly silly thing is, you make these marketing investment assessments all the time for your clients.

You rarely do it for your own agency.

Take the time to look at what you’re really getting if you make a solid investment in your agency marketing. Weigh the price against the benefits and proceed from there.

9 times out of 10, you’ll see that it’s worth it to put the money into a client generation campaign. You’ll get so much more out of it and you can build on that growth, going forward

Agency Growth Secret #3: Give Your Potential Clients a Reason to Believe In You

Most agency owners start a new client consultation by blathering on about the results they’ve gotten for other agencies. They proclaim their superiority and tell their potential clients what they “should” be doing right now, slamming the processes those clients already have in place.

This is poor form.

Imagine if you were approached by someone who wanted your business, who started by proclaiming you were doing it all wrong, regardless of what you were actually doing.

Would you hire that person to work for you?

I wouldn’t.

Nor would a lot of your potential clients. That’s just insulting.

Honestly, Zach did this at first.

He didn’t know how to do anything differently. It’s what he’d always done, and how every agency owner he’d seen acted as well.

That doesn’t make it right.

shoulding all over your client

Then, a client gave him the opportunity to look at their current campaign data and give suggestions on how to improve what they were doing.

This was a transformational moment for Zach.

Instead of “shoulding” all over this client or making random suggestions that may or may not work, based on past experience, Zach was able to look at this client’s current campaign and make genuine, reasonable suggestions on how to make improvements.

And a revolution was born.

This agency growth secret has been responsible for sky-rocketing hundreds of agencies to success.

When you ask for access to your client’s current Facebook ads account, you can review their existing data and look for places that their campaign is hemorrhaging money.

You can make suggestions on how to stop this outflow and turn the campaign into a profitable venture.

When you do this, for free, you’re showing your potential client your value and expertise up front.

You’re making it clear that you’re as invested in their success as they are.

And you make it 10 times more likely that they’ll happily sign a retainer contract worth $2,000 - $5,000 a month for you to manage their Facebook ad campaigns.

The best part?

You don’t have to spend hours slaving away over a hot pivot table to get this information.

This is FunnelDash’s raison d’etre. It’s why FunnelDash was created in the first place.

Our platform lets you connect to a potential client’s Facebook ad account, then pulls all of this data into a specially formulated dashboard, so you can find these money-saving fixes quickly and easily.

It lets you see the audiences that are working best for a potential client, and the ones that should just be discarded.

It makes your job So. Much. Easier.

And, when you present these findings to your potential client during their Facebook Ads Audit consultation, they’ll be so impressed with your hard work, they’ll want to sign on the dotted line as soon as possible to work with you.

Talk about a profitable agency growth secret!
